I believe that neither housewife nor prostitute is a bad job. If it is an informed (please highlight the word “informed” here) decision made by women to best housewife or prostitute, then the job is good enough for her and nobody have rights to judge it as a bad decision.

But do mind that:

a) being a housewife and a prostitute degrade your intellectual and skills.

In the prostitution industry, there is no special skills that women can learn other than satisfying men sexual desire, unless you want to have career as porn star which is not directly related with being a prostitute. Once you commit to the industry, it’ll be hard for you to move to another job, unless you want to be an entrepreneur, because there is no use to write your prostitution experience in your CV. Moreover, you will probably have lost some of your important skills to work after some years commit yourself in a prostitution industry. Committing yourself in this industry also mean committing to the patriarchal culture. This is what a prostitute can never see if they don’t opt out from the job. See that? Only intellectual women can realize this.

On the other hand, being a housewife means limiting your social life to either media (mostly TV and newspaper) and to your neighbors who are also housewife. Yes, there is chance of having social life other than those but the chance is rare. It means that your knowledge are also limited to them. FYI, media is not a good place to gain knowledge since their news are being driven by some parties’ interest. You still need intellect people to discuss everything. Let’s be honest here, socializing with intellect people can make you smarter, rite? This is priceless thing that a housewife can miss. And because of lack of intellectual capability, a housewife are highly possible to also lose their wisdom to solve daily life problems compared to career women (although this is not always the case given to the fact that we can’t simply overgeneralize everything). But I see this happen to my own mom. My mom is a housewife after in 1991 decide to gave up her career after gave birth to my sister. What it has brought her? My mom always see everything too simplistic, sometimes commit herself to the mainstream thinking without seeing whether it is a good or bad things/decision. Simple example: my mom believes that because she is my mother, and in my religion “paradise is beneath mother’s feet”, then I have to always comply to her command, and also her to my grandma. She forgets the fact that mother is not always right, and mother can also be a bad woman, and thus we always have to think twice before complying to everyone’s demand including mother. Whilst I believe that being a career women can give you a wider view of the world, because your brain always work ! When your brain works, you can always “why” and “how” for everything, especially if your job demand you to always do so (for example if you are academician/researcher). So you won’t see everything too simple and always have alternative to solve daily life problems.

b) being a housewife and prostitute degrade your financial freedom !

This is the most important !!

Prostitution industry is not like other industries. In other industries, the longer you work, the more experienced you are, the higher salary you get. In prostitution, the otherwise happen. Newbie always get highest salary, and the longer you work in the industry, the less salary you get. The idea is because virgin always get these highest payment because the costumers will like them most. So this job won’t give you financial security that you and your family (if you have) need.

Being a housewife means you gave up your financial freedom to another people. While the rule to survive in this world is never ever trust someone too much, including your own family. Especially what we talk about here is something very sensitive, which is money.

Think about it, there is 50:50 chance that your husband, the one to whom you rely on financially, can leave you and your family, whether it is because of dead (everybody will die alright!) or because they change or because turns out they are bad person. When this happen, you have to get a job or back to your previous career. This might be harder since you probably have lost some of your skills or knowledge (because you haven’t used it for a long time as full-time housewife). But if you still work, once you lost your husband, you can still survive no matter what.

So think twice before you decide to be full-time housewife.

Other than that, I still believe that being a housewife is better than being a prostitute.

Being a prostitute means committing yourself to a patriarchal structure, and also automatically condoning it, which teach us that men’s sexual desire should always be satisfied in whatever way possible even by paying a poor women to do so, which then tell us that men interest is always more important than the women’s

On the other hand, being a housewife means giving up the fundamental freedom that a human should have to survive (i.e. financial freedom and freedom to maximize your potential) for the sake of raising the next generation of the world and an incapable who can’t survive by their own. Therefore, it is way more noble than anyone could ever think of.

HOW CAN ALL OF THEM EXPECT US TO HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN NON-PROFIT FIELD WHILE NO VACANCY AT ALL FOR NEW GRADUATES ON THAT KIND OF FIELD ?????????
